Russia Producer Prices Fall the Most in 10 Years
Russia's producer prices fell 4.9 percent year-on-year in October 2019, following a 1.2 percent drop in September. It was the second straight monthly decline in producer prices and the steepest since September 2009, as cost fell further for manufacturing (-2.5 percent vs -0.6 percent in September). Also, prices continued to decrease for mining & quarrying (-4 percent vs -5 percent) while electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning inflation slowed to 1.7 percent (from 3.2 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices edged down 0.2 percent, less than a 0.3 percent drop in September.

Russia Producer Prices Fall For 1st Time Since 2009
Russia's producer prices decreased by 1.2 percent year-on-year in September of 2019, after a 0.3 percent rise the previous month. It was the first drop in producer prices since October of 2009, as cost fell for manufacturing (-0.6 percent vs 0.9 percent in August) and mining & quarrying (-5.0 percent vs -3.5 percent). In addition, electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning prices slowed (3.2 percent vs 4.9 percent). On monthly basis, producer prices decreased 0.3 percent, following a 0.6 percent slump in August.

Russia Producer Inflation at 10-Year Low in August
Producer prices in Russia edged up 0.3 percent year-on-year in August of 2019, easing from a 1.1 percent rise in the previous month. It was the lowest producer inflation since October 2009, when deflation ended. Cost slowed for manufacturing (0.9 percent vs 2.2 percent in July) and electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning (4.9 percent vs 6.8 percent). Also, prices continued to fall for mining (-3.5 percent vs -4.4 percent), particularly coal (-8.2 percent) and crude oil & natural gas production (-6.8 percent). On monthly basis, producer prices decreased 0.6 percent, after a 2.7 percent slump in July.

Producer prices in Russia increased 1.1 percent year-on-year in July of 2019, easing from a 4.1 percent rise in the previous month. It was the lowest producer inflation since April of 2019, as cost slowed for manufacturing (2.2 percent from 3.2 percent in June) and water supply, sewerage, waste management & remediation activities (3.9 percent from 4.5 percent). In addition, prices of mining & quarrying fell 4.4 percent, after increasing 5.7 percent in June, as cost of both coal (-2.3 percent) and crude oil & natural gas production (-8.3 percent) decreased. On the other hand, prices rose faster for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning (6.8 percent from 5.9 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices declined 2.7 percent, following a 0.6 percent drop in June.

Russia Producer Inflation Slows to Near 2-Year Low of 4.1%
Producer prices in Russia increased 4.1 percent year-on-year in June of 2019, easing further from an 8.6 percent rise in the previous month. It was the lowest producer inflation since July of 2017, as cost slowed for manufacturing (3.2 percent from 5.1 percent in May), particularly coke & petroleum products (1.2 percent from 3.6 percent); and mining & quarrying (5.7 percent from 20 percent), namely crude oil & natural gas production (4.7 percent from 24.7 percent). On the other hand, prices rose faster for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning (5.9 percent from 5.5 percent) while inflation was steady for waste management & remediation activities (at 4.5 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices declined 0.6 percent, down from a 1.8 percent jump in May and compared with market consensus of a 1.5 percent fall.

Russia Producer Inflation Eases to 13-Month Low
Producer prices in Russia increased 8.6 percent year-on-year in May of 2019, slowing from a 10.7 percent rise in the previous month. It was the lowest producer inflation since April of 2018, as cost went up at a softer pace for manufacturing (5.1 percent vs 6.7 percent in April), particularly coke & petroleum products (3.6 percent from 7.4 percent); mining & quarrying (20 percent vs 25.2 percent), namely crude oil & natural gas production (24.7 percent from 33.1 percent) and for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning (5.5 percent vs 5.8 percent). Meantime, waste management & remediation activities cost rose 4.5 percent, the same pace as in April. On a monthly basis, producer prices went up 1.8 percent, following a 0.5 percent gain in the prior month.
