Peru GDP Annual Growth Rate at 2.20 percent


Peru's economy advanced 2.2 percent year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2017, easing from a 2.5 percent growth in the previous period. Output expanded at a slower pace for petrol gas and mining (2.6 percent from 4.1 percent in Q3); agriculture (4.0 percent from 7.0 percent); telecommunications (7.8 percent from 8.9 percent) and utilities (0.2 percent from 1.6 percent). Additionally, output contracted further for manufacturing (-5.5 percent from -1.8 percent) and fisheries (-51.4 percent from -44.5 percent). On the expenditure side, the growth was mostly due to increases in household (2.6 percent); government (11.5 percent) and gross fixed capital (5.8 percent). Considering full 2017, the economy grew 2.5 percent.

Peru GDP YoY at 3.93 percent


The economy of Peru grew 3.93 percent year-on-year in March of 2018, quickening from a downwardly revised 2.84 percent rise in February and beating market expectations of a 3.3 percent increase. It was the strongest expansion since January 2017 (5.12 percent). Main positive contributions to growth came from: mining & quarrying (5.24% vs -2.43% in February); agriculture (8.34% vs 4.70%); internal trade (3.14% vs 2.55%); transportation, warehousing and communications (6.02% vs 4.49%); manufacturing (2.33% vs 0.39%) and business services (2.98% vs 2.61%). In contrast, output slowed for telecommunications (5.73% vs 7.27%); financial services and insurance (4.54% vs 4.91%) while showed almost no growth for construction (0.03% vs 7.92%). Meantime, output only tumbled for fishing (-4.94% vs 5.11%), mainly due to lower anchovy catch (-64.31%) amid restrictions on reproduction.
