Peru Balance of Trade at 1164.40 USD Million


Peru’s trade surplus widened to USD 1164 million in June 2018 from a USD 790.3 million surplus a year earlier. Exports surged 17.5 percent year-on-year to USD 4530 million, boosted by sales of traditional goods (+18.0 percent), namely copper and gold. Shipments of non-traditional goods went up 16.0 percent, mainly agricultural goods, chemicals and textiles. Imports increased at a slower 9.8 percent to USD 3366 million, with purchases rising for input (+22.3 percent) and capital (+1.6 percent) offsetting a fall in consumption goods (-2.8 percent).
