New Zealand Exports Rise 4.3% YoY in October
Exports from New Zealand went up 4.3 percent over a year earlier to NZD 5035 million in October 2019, after a 2.6 percent rise in the previous month, driven by higher sales of milk powder, butter, and cheese (+19.7 percent to NZD 1471), in particular milk powder (+32 percent). Also, sales of meat & edible offal jumped 29.4 percent to NZD 580 million, namely lamb (+27 percent) and beef (+39 percent). In contrast, sales of fruit plunged 23.1 percent to NZD 156 million, led by green kiwifruit (-38 percent). Among main trade partners, exports rose to China (22.8 percent), and the US (4.2 percent); but dropped to the EU (-20.6 percent).

New Zealand Exports Rise 5.1% YoY in September
New Zealand exports went up 5.1 percent over a year earlier to NZD 4469 million in September 2019, after a 2.6 percent rise in the previous month, boosted by higher sales of crude oil (64 percent to NZD 122 million); preparations of milk, cereals, flour and starch (35.4 percent to NZD 205 million); milk powder, butter & cheese (27.6 percent to NZD 920 million); and meat & edible offal (27.3 percent to NZD 458 million). In contrast, sales of fruit declined 19.1 percent to NZD 277 million; and those of logs, wood, and wood articles fell 13.8 percent to NZD 395 million. By destination, exports went up to China (23.3 percent) and the US (6.3 percent), but fell to South Korea (-19.2 percent), Japan (-14.9 percent), Australia (-4.8 percent) and the EU (-2.1 percent).

New Zealand Exports Up 3.8% YoY in August
Exports from New Zealand went up 3.8 percent over a year earlier to NZD 4,126 million in August 2019, after a 7.1 percent fall in the previous month, boosted by higher sales of crude oil (590.7 percent to NZD 68 million); fruits (18.3 percent to NZD 371 million), namely gold kiwifruit (18 percent to NZD 26 million) and apples (63 percent to NZD 23 million); and milk powder, butter and cheese (6.2 percent to NZD 547 million), in particular milk & cream (70 percent to NZD 35 million) and milk powder (16 percent to NZD 32 million). In contrast, sales of logs, wood & wood articles retreated 13.6 percent to NZD 395 million. By destination, exports increased to China (13.4 percent), Australia (6.8 percent), and the US (1.8 percent), but fell to South Korea (-15 percent), Japan (-5.8 percent), and the EU (-5.2 percent).

New Zealand Exports Rise Below Expectations
Exports from New Zealand increased 2.8 percent year-on-year to NZD 5.01 billion in June 2019, after a downwardly revised 7.4 percent gain in the previous month but below market consensus of NZD 5.29 billion. Exports were mainly driven by higher sales of logs, wood and wood articles, which rose 16 percent to NZD 472 million. Additionally, sales of milk powder, butter & cheese advanced 3.5 percent to NZD 1.15 billion; and exports of meat and edible offal went up 2.5 percent to NZD 0.6 percent. Meantime, sales of petroleum and products other than crude oil dropped 97 percent to NZD 3 million. By destination, exports went up to China (27.1 percent), Malaysia (18.6 percent), and Japan (2.6 percent). In contrast, sales went down to the EU (-15.7 percent), Australia (-6.8 percent), the US (-6.3 percent) and South Korea (-5.0 percent).

New Zealand Exports Hit Record High
Exports from New Zealand increased 8.5 percent year-on-year to a record high of NZD 5.81 billion in May 2019, after a downwardly revised 10.8 percent in the previous month and above market consensus of NZD 5.61 billion, mainly driven by higher sales of milk powder, butter & cheese, which jumped 15.2 percent to NZD 1.29 billion. Also, sales rose for preparations of milk, cereals, fluor & starch (41.3 percent); meat & edible offal (1.3 percent); fruit (8.8 percent); and fish, crustaceans, & molluscs (35.3 percent), while exports of mechanical machinery & equipment dropped 3.9 percent. By destination, exports went up to China (29.1 percent), South Korea (15.7 percent), Japan (12.5 percent), and the US (11.8 percent). In contrast, sales fell to Australia (-2.4 percent) and the EU (-8.1 percent).

New Zealand Exports Jump 11.7% YoY in April
Exports from New Zealand increased 11.7 percent year-on-year to NZD 5.55 billion in April 2019, after rising 16.7 percent in the previous month, mainly driven by higher sales of logs, wood & wood articles, which jumped 20.3 percent to NZD 0.48 billion. Also, sales went up for milk powder, butter & cheese (10.6 percent to NZD 1.29 billion); and fruit (11.2 percent to NZN 0.61 billion). Meanwhile, sales dropped for electrical machinery & equipment (-17.9 percent to NZN 0.08 billion) and wood pulp & waste paper (-28.6 percent to NZN 0.06 billion). By destination, exports climbed to South Korea (33.5 percent), China (29.3 percent), the US (18.3 percent) and Japan (8.5 percent), but fell to Australia (-3.9 percent) and the EU (-1.1 percent).
