Ireland Wholesale Prices Fall for 21st Month
Wholesale prices in Ireland declined 2.9 percent year-on-year in November of 2019, following a 3.9 percent drop in October. It is the 21st straight month of annual falls in wholesale prices, led by prices of basic metals (-4.2 percent); motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (-2.5 percent); fruit and vegetables (-2.7 percent); mining and quarrying (-2.4 percent); and grain milling, starches and animal feeds (-1.9 percent). On a monthly basis, wholesale prices jumped 5 percent, following an 8.5 percent slump in October, with cost of wood and wood products recording the biggest gain (1.7 percent).

Irish Wholesale Price Deflation Deepens in October
Ireland's wholesale prices dropped 3.9 percent from a year earlier in October 2019, following a 1.7 percent decline in the previous month, led by falls in basic metals (-6.2 percent), motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (-2.6 percent), wood and wood products (-2.5 percent), chemicals and chemical products (-0.3 percent), rubber and plastic products (-0.2 percent), and pulp, paper and paper products (-0.2 percent). On the other hand, food products prices increased 7.5 percent. On a monthly basis, wholesale prices slumped 8.5 percent in October.

Ireland Wholesale Prices Deflation Softens
Wholesale prices in Ireland fell 1.7 percent year-on-year in September 2019, following a 4.4 percent decline in the previous month. Cost went down less for motor vehicles, trailers & semi-trailers (-2.5 percent from -2.6 percent in August); wood & wood products (-1.7 percent from -2.3 percent); furniture (-0.1 percent from -0.2 percent); and chemicals & chemical products (-0.2 percent from -0.4 percent). Also, prices rebounded for printing & reproduction of recorded media (0.2 percent from -0.9 percent); and fabricated metal products, except machinery & equipment (0.9 percent from -0.7 percent). Additionally, cost of paper & paper products was unchanged after declining 0.4 percent in August. On a monthly basis, wholesale prices increased 0.4 percent, following a 0.3 percent gain in the prior month. Considering the third quarter as a whole, wholesale prices dropped 4.1 percent over the same period of 2018.

Wholesale prices in Ireland decreased 4.4 percent year-on-year in August 2019, following a 5.9 percent fall in the previous month. The biggest declines were recorded for chemicals & chemical products (-0.4 percent, the same as in July); printing & reproduction of recorded media (-0.9 percent from -0.5 percent); paper & paper products (-0.4 percent from -0.1 percent); basic metals (-5.7 percent from -4.5 percent); motor vehicles, trailers & semi-trailers (-2.6 percent from -2.5 percent); and furniture (-0.2 percent, the same as in July). On a monthly basis, wholesale prices rose 0.3 percent, rebounding from a 0.7 percent fall in the prior month.

Wholesale prices in Ireland fell 5.9 percent year-on-year in July of 2019, below a 6.8 percent decline in the previous month. Cost dropped at a softer pace for chemicals & chemical products (-0.4 percent from -0.5 percent in June) and motor vehicles, trailers & semi-trailers (-2.5 percent from -2.6 percent). On the other hand, prices fell further for basic metals (-4.5 percent from -3.1 percent) and printing & reproduction of recorded media (-0.5 percent from -0.2 percent). Meantime, food products prices rose further (4 percent from 2.6 percent). On a monthly basis, wholesale prices decreased 0.7 percent, following a 0.3 percent fall in June.

Irish Wholesale Prices Fall 6.8% YoY in June
Wholesale prices in Ireland fell 6.8 percent year-on-year in June 2019, following a 6.3 percent decline in the previous month. Cost dropped further for chemicals & chemical products (-0.5 percent from -0.2 percent in May); and basic metals (-3.1 percent from -1.4 percent). Also, prices of motor vehicles, trailers & semi-trailers went down (-2.6 percent from a flat reading); and wood & wood products (1.6 percent from -2.7 percent) and cost slowed for furniture (0.6 percent from 0.8 percent). On a monthly basis, wholesale prices decreased 0.3 percent, after rising 0.3 percent in the prior month.
