Costa Rica Inflation Rate Falls to 8-Month Low
The annual inflation rate in Costa Rica fell to 1.86 percent in November 2019 from 2.07 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation rate since March, as prices eased for housing & utilities (3.11 percent vs 3.26 percent in October); furnishings (1.82 percent vs 2.35 percent); restaurants & hotels (1.73 percent vs 1.86 percent); recreation & culture (3.16 percent vs 3.86 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (4.52 percent vs 5.23 percent); education (4.32 percent vs 4.43 percent); health (5.08 percent vs 5.30 percent); and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (3.18 percent vs 3.95 percent). Also, cost dropped further for transport (-1.73 percent vs -1.15 percent); and clothing & footwear (-0.91 percent vs -0.88 percent). Meanwhile, cost of food & non-alcoholic beverages rose at a faster pace (1.84 percent vs 1.65 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.21 percent, rebounding from a 0.07 percent fall in October.

Costa Rica Inflation Rate at 6-Month Low of 2.1%
The annual inflation rate in Costa Rica decreased to 2.07 percent in October of 2019 from 2.53 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation rate since April, as prices slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.65 percent vs 1.73 percent in September); recreation & culture (3.86 percent vs 4.36 percent); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (3.95 percent vs 4.39 percent) and health (5.30 percent vs 5.36 percent). In addition, cost fell for transport (-1.15 percent vs 1.69 percent). Meanwhile, inflation quickened for housing & utilities (3.26 percent vs 2.42 percent); furnishings (2.35 percent vs 2.33 percent); restaurants & hotels (1.86 percent vs 1.65 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (5.23 percent vs 4.80 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.1 percent, the same pace as in the previous month.

Costa Rica Inflation Rate Slows to 3-Month Low
The annual inflation rate in Costa Rica fell to 2.53 percent in September of 2019 from 2.89 percent in the previous month. Prices eased for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.73 percent vs 2.21 percent in August); transport (1.69 percent vs 3.15 percent); housing & utilities (2.42 percent vs 3.50 percent); furniture & household equipment (2.33 percent vs 2.81 percent) and health (5.36 percent vs 6.00 percent). On the other hand, inflation was steady for restaurants & hotels (at 1.65 percent) while prices advanced faster for miscellaneous goods & services prices (4.80 percent vs 4.49 percent) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (4.39 percent vs 3.53 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.10 percent, the same pace as in August.

Costa Rica August Inflation Rate Eases to 2.86%
The annual inflation rate in Costa Rica fell to 2.86 percent in August 2019 from an over four-year high of 2.89 percent in the previous month. Prices eased for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.21 percent vs 2.70 percent in July); housing & utilities (3.50 percent vs 3.69 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (4.49 percent vs 4.74 percent); restaurants & hotels (1.65 percent vs 1.86 percent); and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (3.53 percent vs 4.01 percent). Additionally, cost of communication declined further (-0.93 percent vs -0.76 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.10 percent, after increasing 0.73 percent in the prior month.

Costa Rica Inflation Rate Highest since 2015
The annual inflation rate in Costa Rica picked up to 2.89 percent in July 2019, the highest since March 2015, from 2.42 percent in the prior month. Main upward pressure came from food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.70 percent vs 1.51 percent in June), housing & utilities (3.69 percent vs 3.05 percent), health (5.78 percent vs 3.75 percent) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (4.01 percent vs 3.52 percent). Meanwhile, cost slowed for transport (2.87 percent vs 3.69 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices inched up 0.73 percent, after rising 0.27 percent in the preceding month.

Costa Rica Inflation Rate Rises to 15-Month High
The annual inflation rate in Costa Rica increased to 2.42 percent in June 2019, the highest since March 2018, from 2.32 percent in the previous month. Main upward pressure came from food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.51 percent vs 0.56 percent), transportation (3.69 percent vs 4.97 percent); and housing & utilities (3.05 percent vs 3.29 percent) On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up 0.27 percent after a 0.14 percent gain in May.
